How long we keep your data.
Every plan has every analytics feature. What you pay for is memory. The free plan shows the last 7 days (we store the data for 90, so upgrading unlocks history instantly), Starter shows 90 days, Pro 12 months, Custom tailored. Cleanup is automatic at the database level. It is not a background process that can miss, it is the database’s own logic.

Data partitioned by month
Events are stored partitioned by calendar month. That makes both fast queries and clean cleanups possible.

TTL at row level
Every row has an expiry time (the smaller of the plan cap and the site’s own setting). When the time runs out the row is deleted automatically at the next database merge. We do not need to run a separate cleanup process.

Daily per-site cleanup
At 03:00 every night we run a cleanup process that removes older data for sites where you set a shorter retention than your plan allows. Extra safety on top of the database’s own automation.

Frequently asked questions
Why does the free plan store 90 days but show 7?+
So an upgrade means instant history. On Hobby we keep your events for 90 days while the dashboard queries the last 7. The moment you move to Starter or Pro, the stored history opens up, including data collected while you were on the free plan. If you never upgrade, events older than 90 days are deleted just like on Starter. We would rather say this openly than surprise you.
What happens when my retention runs out?+
Raw events are deleted. Aggregated KPIs that were computed and cached may show older totals for a short while, but a fresh query against history returns only data inside the retention window.
Can I export data before it is deleted?+
Yes. Today via Profile -> Request your account data (GDPR Art. 15 flow, we respond within 30 days). A direct API is coming back with per-user tokens later in 2026.
What happens if I downgrade from Pro to Starter?+
Retention drops from 365 to 90 days at the next cleanup run (max 24h). We do not push an immediate mass deletion, you have a grace period to export first.
And if I downgrade to Hobby?+
The dashboard window shrinks to 7 days, but your data is kept for 90 days. All features keep working. Upgrade again within those 90 days and the history is back as if nothing happened.
What about backups? Is the data kept forever there?+
No. Backups follow the same retention policy as the live data. We do not have 7-year-old backups lying around to leak. EU-based backup provider, daily rotation.
Can I set a SHORTER retention than my plan?+
Yes. Per-site override in settings. Some GDPR-sensitive sites (healthcare, municipality) want a shorter retention than the plan allows, we respect that and delete earlier.
